Upgraded BBQ & Black Pepper Toscano Chopped Salad


We love the convenience of TJ's delicious salad kits! But to turn them into complete, well-balanced meals, it's important to "upgrade" them with a few key ingredients.

For this recipe, we’re using their BBQ & Black Pepper Toscano Chopped Salad as the base. It’s a crunchy mix of green & red cabbage, carrots, broccoli stalks, and kale tossed with cornbread croutons, Toscano cheese, and BBQ sweet onion dressing.

The dressing is sweet & flavorful, and the cornbread croutons add a nice crunch.



Makes 2 servings
All ingredients purchased @ Trader Joe's



  • 1 pack BBQ & Black Pepper Toscano Chopped Salad

  • ½ avocado, diced

  • Your choice of protein

    • options:

      • 6 oz. chicken

      • 1 cup black beans

      • 2 hard boiled eggs

      • 2 shrimp burgers (frozen section)



  1. Open the salad kit & set the packet of dressing aside. Pour the rest of the ingredients into a large salad bowl.

  2. Add the diced avocado & your choice of protein.

  3. Add the dressing & toss well.

  4. Divide into two servings. Enjoy!
