5 Ways to Use Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Seasoning

The spice aisle at Trader Joe’s is a treasure trove of flavor possibilities. And while many of their seasonings have come & gone over the years, the Chile Lime Seasoning Blend is an original that’s stood the test of time!

Made from sea salt, chile pepper, and lime juice powder, it strikes the perfect balance between tangy, savory, and a hint of spice. Similar to the classic Tajín, this blend is a flavor powerhouse. A little goes a long way so to keep the sodium in check, we recommend no more than ¼ teaspoon per serving.

We love its versatility and here are our 5 favorite ways to use it, plus a recipe for a tasty afternoon snack.👇

1. Fruit

The chile powder plus tart lime add a mouthwatering twist to sweet, crisp fruit. We enjoy it with pineapple, mango, strawberries, pears, and watermelon!

2. Vegetables

Looking to up your veggie intake? Just a few sprinkles of the seasoning will transform your raw veggies like jicama sticks & Persian cucumbers into vibrant delights. You can also add a zesty tang to roasted veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, and butternut squash.

  • See recipe below for our Chile Lime Edamame & Cucumber Snack Bowl.

3. Dips

Another easy way to eat more raw veggies like carrots & celery is to pair them with a delicious dip. Mix a bit of this seasoning into hummus or nonfat plain Greek yogurt, and voilà – you've got a dip that's full of flavor and high in protein.

4. Seafood

Two servings of seafood per week helps boost your intake of omega-3 fats and lean protein. And Chile Lime Seasoning is the perfect complement to shrimp, salmon, and even fish tacos.

5. Popcorn

Sprinkle the seasoning on your popcorn for a spicy, citrusy kick! No need for additional salt – the flavor speaks for itself.

For an example of how we use this blend in our Meal Plan app, here’s a quick & easy recipe for an afternoon snack. Whip it together in the evening and your snack is ready to grab & go for the next two days.
